New Retail Showroom
Recently Opened in Coconut Creek
Coconut Creek, Fla. – (June XX, 2009) – After
25 years of providing thousands of women each year with uniquely elegant
evening wear, the previously New York City-based fashion house Sara Mique has
completely moved its operation to South Florida. In March 2009, the chic Sara
Mique retail showroom celebrated its grand opening in Coconut Creek, Fla., on
the same site as the design and production facility.
The showroom features the unique, hand-made garments
for which Sara Mique is renowned: non-traditional wedding dresses, special
occasion dresses for destination weddings, black tie or cocktail party dresses,
mother-of-the-bride dresses, separates and more in a variety of sizes
(including plus sizes). Also on display in the showroom, Sara Mique’s new
“Florida Casual Collection” includes interesting and fun “dinner tops” that
clients can wear with pants and jeans, or with the new Sara Mique skirt
collection. Prices for evening wear are from $250-$1500 and casual wear is from
$65-$330.
Cut from only the highest quality unique
laces, silks, velvets and embroideries, each Sara Mique piece is custom-made;
hand-sewn by an expert seamstress and individually hand-dyed by a textile
artist directly behind the retail showroom. There are no buttons or zippers on
Sara Mique clothing, creating the comfortable, body skimming fit of a leotard. The
white or light colored garments can be dyed another color to be worn multiple
times.
Joan “Sara Mique” Lamonica opted to move the
operation to South Florida when in 2007, her husband decided to semi-retire in
the area. As always, Lamonica still sells to better specialty stores, but she says
the Sara Mique showroom in Florida “is a lab for testing new styles and gives
our team the opportunity to learn, first hand, what the customers really want
and need.” The Florida showroom has also given Lamonica an opportunity to
develop her passion for creating more signature items that women can wear more
casually, in addition to her special occasion creations. “I now have items that clients can wear all
the time rather than just a few times a year,” Lamonica said. “It’s a new, more
casual Sara Mique.”
The Sara Mique Florida team is a mix of both
young and mature associates, enhancing Lamonica’s goal to make young clothes
that women of many ages and sizes will feel beautiful in and comfortable
wearing.
The elegant showroom features all-white space
with a glass floor, beautiful chandelier, white leather furniture and a
complimentary wine and espresso bar.
Lamonica began the Sara Mique enterprise
nearly three decades ago after she designed a unique, beautiful, fun, funky,
feminine, romantic and “slightly sexy” dress for herself during a trip to Rio
de Janeiro. When her friends asked for similar dresses, she decided that
fashion design might be her calling and created some pieces for the legendary
Fifth Avenue boutique Henri Bendel. The rest is fashion history.
The
Sara Mique retail showroom is located at 4800 W. Hillsboro Blvd, Coconut Creek,
